10,000 Hear John McDermott Close Out Season

By Joelle Kovach

The last concert of the season was held at the park last night, and about 10,000 people came to hear balladeer John McDermott sing.

It is the third time McDermott has closed the series of concerts at Crary Park.  Backstage, he said he enjoys the relaxed atmosphere of singing outdoors to a sea of people in lawn chairs.

"Itís a fun venue" and a stress-free environment," he said.

Renee Beaumond said she came from Toronto specifically to see McDermott, whom she enjoys.  She has selected one of his songs as the theme for her wedding, which will take place in three weeks.
